If you're not thinking about overclocking, you should know that it's extremely safe and simple to do. In reality, the average extreme chip won't OC any better than the next several chips down the product line (which often sell for less than half the price of the extreme chip.) Furthermore, all Quads have limited OC headroom, so buying a Q6600 for $266 will give you, in the end, the same amount of OC headroom as a QX6800 or QX6850 for over twice the price. What you pay for is not an additional 200mhz of processing speed, but an unlocked multiplier that can make a chip easier to OC in certain situations. The QX6800 is a complete waste of money, as are all extreme edition chips. With XP or Vista 32, at most you'll see between 3.2-3.5 gigs of usable RAM. Vista 圆4 is a much more mature (and far better supported) platform than XP 64. Keep in mind that in order to utilize all four gigs of RAM, you will need to run a 64 bit version of Windows.
